About this campground
Maple Grove Campground is a backcountry camping destination located 4 miles from the South Baker Lake Trailhead along the Baker Lake Trail in Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Situated on the eastern shore of Baker Lake at a low elevation of approximately 705 feet, the campground offers seven tent sites equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and bear boxes. The relatively flat, forested trail through Douglas Fir makes this a popular early-season backpacking trip, as the area remains snow-free most of the year.

To reach the campground, hikers must start from the South Baker Lake Trailhead, accessed by driving north on Baker Lake Road from Highway 20, crossing the Baker Lake Dam, and continuing on Forest Road 1107. The 4-mile trail is gentle and well-maintained, making it accessible for families and those seeking a shorter backpacking trip. Water is available from Baker Lake or nearby streams but must be treated or filtered before use. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required.
