There is no better place to camp in tent or caravan than amongst the beauty of Cannock Chase and easy access onto the tracks and trails for bike or horse.The campsite is well located for those visiting Staffordshire, Stafford, Cannock or Shugborough Hall offering a quite spot from which to visit the attractions of the area.ActivitiesHorse RidingCannock Chase offers superb tracks, trails and bridleways for horse riders. Springslade Lodge is situated on a Bridleway and is ideal for a refreshment stop.Springslade Lodge offers the Paddock for hire to horse riders who are travelling to Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. Leave the horse transport at Springslade Lodge and enjoy your days riding. On your return leave the horses in the Paddock and enjoy refreshments at the tearoom.Riding on Cannock Chase varies from loose pebble surfaces, grass covered bridleways, forest tracks and fireroads. If you are new to the area Exporer OS map 6 is a good purchase, otherwise just follow the waymarked signs.The Chase is 25sq miles of Pine Forest, Heathland, Woodland, valleys and hills with quite roads passing through from east to west. Start with a warm drink and light breakfast, stock up on drinks and snacks then set out on one of the many beautiful walks possible from Sprignslade Lodge, then return for afternoon tea or earlier for lunch.The Heart of England Way and The Staffordshire Way pass The Lodge and so why not call on the Tearooms to get refreshed with food and drink.Site SeeingCannock Chase is not all Pine Forest to the north where Springslade Lodge tearoom is located there are rolling hills and the beautiful Sherbrook valley.A short walk soon gets you to the Glacial Boulder and a little further to Brocton Ancient Oak Woodland. Springslade Lodge offers many circular walks of various lengths and of different interest.The German War Graves and cemetery and the Commonwealth Graves along with the Katyn Memorial are all a short walk from the tearooms.A short drive sees you at Milford Common and the entrance to the famous Shugborough Hall and Stafford Museum a little further takes you to the historic Wolseley Bridge and The Wildlife Centre. Or go to Pottal Pool roundabout and turn left then first left sign posted to War Graves and Springslade Lodge Tearooms is about 1 mile on the left, look for Teapot Sign.From Rugeley take road to Penkridge and after 4 miles look for signs to War Graves, turn right at the cross roads and the tearoom is about 1 mile on the left, look for Teapot Sign.
