You will be staying on our property ‘White Oak Reserve’, which is not an RV park but private land we own. You will have approximately one acre to yourself. There will be guests on neighboring lots, so please be respectful of their privacy. Also, please keep your pet on a leash at all times. There are wild animals in the area so please exercise caution. Check-in is 2-6pm and check-out is 11am. The property address is 90 White Oak Circle, Blue Ridge GA. In case GPS not take you to the correct address, follow White Oak Circle (pavement) to White Oak Reserve (gravel road). You will be some of our first guests in this spot, so we would really appreciate feedback on what you love and how we could make the experience even better! A little about the area- our property is conveniently situated between historic downtown McCaysville and historic downtown Blue Ridge. One popular activity is to ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway between the two towns. McCaysville is an old copper mining town. Twisted Tomato and Bura Bura are good water front dining options, and my kids always ask for a treat from the ice cream shop afterwards. From there you can see the old steel bridge that was built in 1911 and is still operable, which blows my mind! It is also fun to take a picture while you stand in two states (Georgia & Tennessee) at one time, and souvenirs from McCaysville Drug and Gun are popular. For a slow pace activity we like picnics in Horseshoe Bend Park (sometimes grabbing ‘Papas Pizza’ on the way), where the kids always end up playing in the water. On summer evenings they have outdoor music concerts, but this time of year it’s a very quiet place where you’ll typically only find locals. Heading back towards Blue Ridge, you can go to Mercier Orchards (4.5mi from our property) for apple picking. It will definitely be buzzing since we are in apple picking season! There are also several places in the area for mini golf and gem mining. My kids enjoy seeing the train and playing on the playground in downtown Blue Ridge (and trying to catch the chickens that roam the area), and they love Huck’s General Store. One hike they always enjoy is the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge. It is a fairly bumpy 3mi drive on a gravel road to get there but it is a short hike with a pretty view and the kids can play in the water there (are you picking up on a theme?). Really though, I think some of the most precious time is just family walks along White Oak Circle with the kids running chasing each other in circles, and if you’re lucky you’ll catch the fog rising over the mountain canopy in the morning, or the sun setting in the evening. To me, that’s the good stuff!
