About this campground
Warren Ranger House is a historic Forest Service ranger cabin located in the remote mining town of Warren, Idaho, approximately 45 miles north of McCall in the Payette National Forest. This well-preserved rental facility provides guests with an authentic backcountry experience in a classic ranger station setting. The cabin features three bedrooms, a full bathroom with shower/tub, sink and flush toilet, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a comfortable living room, accommodating 6-8 people. The Warren Guard Station complex, where this cabin is located, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and dates back to when the Forest Service moved its operations to Warren in 1918.

The ranger cabin represents classic Forest Service architecture and has been maintained in very good condition while retaining its historic character. The Warren area offers abundant recreation opportunities including hiking, fishing, and exploring historic sites. Guests can take the Warren Auto Tour to learn about the area's rich mining history, visit the Chinese Gardens about 8 miles past Warren, or explore numerous trails in the surrounding wilderness. The remote location provides a true backcountry experience, though the drive from McCall takes approximately 1.5 hours on the Warren Wagon Road. The cabin operates seasonally from July 1 through September 30, when road access is typically reliable.
