The recently expanded non-motorized Thompson Falls Trail runs along the river and connects to the Highway 200 trail into town, offering scenic walks through the forest and along the riverbank. A boat launch provides access to the Clark Fork River for fishing and boating enthusiasts, with pike and bass being the most common catches. The park also includes a beach area for summer swimming. Situated between the Kaniksu and Lolo National Forests, Thompson Falls State Park serves as an excellent base for exploring thousands of acres of public lands in the rugged and beautiful Clark Fork Valley. The park offers a range of recreational opportunities including wildlife viewing, bird watching, photography, and simply relaxing in a shaded riverside setting.
