Set in approximately 90 acres of lakes and parkland Smeaton's Lakes is a quiet, rural haven of peace and tranquillity for fishing, nature walks, caravans, motorhomes and tents.Often described by new visitors as one of the East Midlands' best kept secrets, Smeaton's Lakes' close proximity to the A1 and A46 make it the ideal base from which to explore the many and varied attractions of this historic area.About UsEstablished in 1996, this peaceful, wooded site, set in 90 acres of lakes and parkland, offers a year-round, quiet haven for caravans, motorhomes, tourers, campers and fishermen.The sympathetically developed site is a veritable nature wonderland for walkers and dog lovers alike, with prime fishing both on our lakes and the River Trent.Southwell, with its historic Minster is 5 minutes away by car, whilst Lincoln with its many and varied historic attractions is just 30 minutes away.The site is fully supervised and we take great care to ensure that there is no overcrowding.Site FacilitiesThe site has 120 touring pitches, the majority of which are hard standing with electricity and nearby water points.All sizes of caravans can be accommodatedWe welcome tents and even have a number of pitches available with electricity supplies.All sizes of motorhomes can be accommodated including Winnebago and 5th wheeler camper vansWell-behaved dogs are welcome (must be kept on leads)2 x warm, heated toilet and shower blocksSeparate fishermen's toiletsDisabled toilets and showerHot water and razor pointsChemical disposal pointRefuse disposal pointSmall shop for the basicsCalor Gas supplied on-siteOutside washing up facilitiesOn-site recycling pointLakeside pitches availableSome pitches close to the River Trent available for dog walksFishing concessionsRally fields24-hour CCTV security and on-site wardenClubhouse available for hireDaily newspapers to orderIndian, Chinese and Pizza delivery service availableNB: Pre-booking is advised.16 amp electricity on most pitchesHard standing pitches availableFriendly staffStorage FacilitiesSmeaton's Lakes is covered by 24-hour CCTV and our on-site warden is here to ensure the safety of your property.We provide secure on-site storage for caravans and motorhomes in a locked compound, with electric gates, accessible only via the office during office hours (7 days a week from 7.30am to 5.30pm).Access to the compound can be gained at other times by arrangement.Stored caravans and motorhomes can be positioned prior to your arrival and returned to the compound after your departure if required.Owners of stored caravans or motorhomes also qualify for reduced rate fishingFishing The Coarse LakesThe Burrows and Reed Lakes produce a mixture of:BreamRoachPerchRuddTenchCarpThe Finger Ponds and Bingham Coarse Lake are unique in that they are fed from the River Trent. Fishing is varied and includes Pike in addition to the above. Carp and Coarse fish can be caught all year round and winter fishing is a must for the Pike enthusiast.The Reed Lake is 16 ft. deep, the Burrows Lake, 6 ft. deep whilst the Finger Ponds and Bingham Coarse depths are variable.The Carp LakeThe Carp Lake contains a mixture of common, mirror and leather carp up to a weight of 30lbs.River FishingWe have 7 pegs available on the River Trent for day and night fishing of barbel and chubb during the open season from June to March.Pre-booking is a must.DirectionsSmeaton's Lakes is situated just off the Great North Road (A616) at Nerwark on Trent.
