It's also just 20 minutes from Zion National Park and a little over an hour from Bryce Canyon National Park. There's plenty to do with state and national parks nearby, but if you're looking for something more low-key for a day or two, consider the local hikes featured on the flyers in our house book: Squaw, Bunting and K-hill, all offering wonderful views. As well, Jacob Hamblin park has a playground, field, pool with slides, splash pad, and tennis/pickleball courts; Kanab City Library is nearby and often has books for sale; Ranchos Park has great baseball fields; Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has great guided tours (they welcome donations). Also consider the local restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream shops. We love some of the local tour companies; they can make your travel time far more productive and enjoyable. Many of them even offer early morning pick-ups from Kanab. TRANSIT Kanab, UT is 20 minutes away. Page, AZ airport is 1.5 hours away; St. George, UT airport is 2 hours away; Las Vegas airport is 3.5 hours away. Get around in town mostly via vehicle. Mount Carmel is in the "Grand Circle" area, centrally located among Zion National Park (13 miles), Bryce Canyon National Park (59 miles), the Grand Canyon (North Rim - 98 miles). You can also visit Pipe Springs National Monument (38 miles), the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (33 miles), Vermilion Cliffs National Monument (61 miles), Coral Pink Sand Dunes (15 miles), Kodachrome Basin (76 miles), Lake Powell/Glen Canyon Recreation Area (90 miles), the "Wave"/Paria Wilderness (66 miles), Horseshoe Bend (94 miles), Cedar Breaks National Monument (48 miles) and so much more.
