About this campground
Sherman Overlook Campground sits at the summit of Sherman Pass on State Route 20 in the Colville National Forest. This small, lightly-used campground features 9 tent/trailer sites, several of which offer privacy among the trees. The campground serves as a gateway to the Kettle Crest National Recreation Trail system via Sherman Pass Tie Trail #96, which begins at the end of the campground loop. The campground is equipped with vault toilets and hand-pump drinking water. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring.

Adjacent to the campground, Sherman Overlook Trail #96.A is a short, paved ADA-accessible interpretive trail that provides scenic views of surrounding peaks and the hairpin curves of Highway 20 below. The trail features informational displays about forest fires and firefighting. In late fall, the predominantly western larch forest turns golden, creating spectacular scenery. The high-elevation location offers beautiful mountain views and access to hiking opportunities along the Kettle Crest. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day maximum stay. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sites are $6 per night with an additional $2 fee for extra vehicles. Interagency Senior and Access passes receive a 50% discount on campsite fees.
