This can be a half day activity for a group, either on its own or as part of a full Activity Day. A full day is needed to use all the course. Includes the Multi Vine, the Catwalk, the Postmans Walk, the Trapeze, Gladiator Rings, Jacobs Ladder, the Crate Stacking Challenge the Lily Pads, or UFO's.and the High All Aboard. All participants climb the course attached to a safety rope with a belay similar to rock climbing. If a participant falls or wants to come down they will be safely lowered to the floor by the belay. Safety is of paramount importance and all instructors are qualified climbers. Participants are required to attend the safety briefing. Helmets and harnesses are provided. The high ropes course is perfect for all ages and is great for corporate teams, schools, youth groups and families.By the end of a high ropes session, you can expect increased confidence and a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses.KayakingWe run kayaking and canoeing on a sheltered, private lake at Cobbs Cross Farm, slow moving rivers in Somerset or at other venues in the South West. Half day sessions are ideal as an introduction to kayaking but we can run more advanced courses for full or half days. Suitable for all from the age of eight upwards. Minimum group size is four and a maximum of ten on Kayaking and ten on Canoeing. All specialist equipment is supplied, together with fully qualified instruction. Buoyancy aids, helmets, cags and booties are supplied. In winter months, wetsuits are available. Be prepared to get wet. Bring a complete change of clothing and a towel. We do run 'taster' sessions as well as courses for BCU Star Tests. Also Full Days in Devon and Wales.Raft buildingWorking in two teams, each is given an assortment of ropes, poles and barrels to construct their raft. The additional challenge of time penalties is an almost certain recipe for disaster! One of the team's rafts almost always fails to hold up to the abuse,(usually the blokes team), and a wet ending is likely. There is a race across the lake to win, as well as other challenges which test both brains and brawn.Participants are likely to get wet so buoyancy aids are worn at all times and a qualified lifeguard is present.Team buildingTeam Building Courses can be for a half day session but it is probably best to take a full day. Suitable for Schools, Colleges, groups from work to list just a few. Raft Building, Bridge Building, the Low Ropes Course and the High Ropes Course can all be part of this but we do initiate a number of elements other than these. Groups from eight to eighty. Come prepared for a day in the Outdoors.Water BallingYou go inside an airtight ball, the ball fills with air and you are off for a water walking adventure. A challenging and fun activity which is entertaining for specators and participants alikeMountain BoardingWe run introductory and progressive sessions of mountain boarding at our featured slope. Nestled up in a valley you get scenic views of the local area as you learn about the boards, the safety equipment and how to turn and stop safely.Mountain boarding is a great activity for developing your balance, co-ordination, core body muscles and confidence as you take on the different slopes. The sessions can be either a half or full day session and can cater for groups of all ages from eight years and above. The hills cut through West Somerset, rising from the Vale of Taunton and the Somerset Levels to end crashing into the Bristol Channel just east of Watchet Harbour. The Quantocks face Exmoor to the west, with the River Parrett to the east, famous for its 30 foot tidal range and twice daily bore. The Somerset coastline that the Quantocks reach is a spectacular section of coast, with the beaches (some sandy, some rocky) of Burnham, Weston-super-Mare and Minehead and Lynmouthand Kilve all within easy reach.Set in the southernmost foothills of this Area of Special Scientific Interest, Cobbs Cross Farm is very much a working farm in a rich and sensitive geography. Farming remains the family's main income, and the load placed on the farm's delicate ecosystem by holidaymakers and visitors to Secret Valley is kept to a minimum by keeping numbers low and by ensuring that development is gradual and gentle. The leisure facilities and activities are intentionally as un-invasive as possible. In 2000, the 400 acre mixed farm became totally organic and Farmer John now rears free range chickens as well as a 180 strong beef suckler herd. You'll see both enjoying their freedom and the lush grass. Visitors can also see a small reindeer herd and South American rheas. The farm's main crop is organic potatoes but Farmer John turns his hand to many things; 60 acres are turned over to Christmas tree plantations (www.farmerjohns.net), and two vineyards. Secret Valley Wine is produced locally in Somerset, with red, white and rosé wines all available for tasting and taking home from our Wine Shop.Terms & conditionsWelcome to our website.
