About this campground
Saddle Blanket Shelter is one of several winter shelters in the Willamette Pass area of Willamette National Forest, maintained by dedicated volunteers for winter sports enthusiasts. The shelter is a three-sided structure accessible from Gold Lake Sno-Park, approximately 2.3 miles via an easy road ski. Built to serve cross-country skiers and snowshoers, the shelter provides basic overnight accommodations with a sleeping loft, wood stove, wood picnic table, and gravel floor. The shelter sits in the scenic Cascade Range along the western slopes of Oregon, offering access to the extensive winter trail network in the area.

As with other shelters in the Willamette Pass system, it's maintained by volunteers from the Willamette Backcountry Ski Patrol, who work to keep these facilities available for public use throughout the winter season. Visitors should come prepared for backcountry winter conditions, as no drinking water or restroom facilities are available at the shelter. The site operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations or fees required. Maximum overnight capacity is four persons.
