The park is conveniently accessed via Scours Lane and sits between the River Thames to the north and the railway line to the south. The Thames Path runs alongside this stretch of the river, while a charming cluster of trees and shrubs can be found to the west of the park. There is also a regular bus service on weekdays from Tilehurst to Reading town centre. The M4 motorway is approximately 4 miles to the south. Comprehensive amenities and facilities can be found within a short distance of the park. Tilehurst is located 3 miles (5 km) west of central Reading and 42 miles (68 km) from London. The original name was Tigel-Hurst, which means “the wooded hill where tiles are made.” A notable landmark in the area is the Tilehurst Water Tower, built in 1932 to supplement Bath Road Reservoir. It is in a prominent position and is particularly visible when approaching Reading from the M4 motorway. Tilehurst railway station, which opened in 1882, is located to the north of the area and is on the original line of the Great Western Railway between Oxford and Reading. Journey times are approximately 5 minutes to Reading, 35 minutes to Oxford, and just under an hour to London Paddington.
