A leading light in the Welsh hillsRhandirmwyn (pronounced ran-dee-mo-n) means ‘Valley of the Minerals’ and is in an oldlead mining area in the Towy Valley, a tranquil area perfect for wildlife and walking.You can enjoy both – and spot red kites – at the RSPB Dinas Nature Reserve, around 3.5 miles from site, while the Elan Valley is also home to some of Britain’s rarest wildlife and plants.

You can also see red kites, ravens and buzzards at Gigrin Farm BirdReserve in the market town of Rhayader.Mountain bikers can enjoy the all-ability access trail in Cwmrhaeadr Forest, only 1.5 milesaway from site, while the town of Llandovery, just over seven miles away, has a cobbled market square, a number of old inns, shops, banks and a supermarket.
