About this campground
Campsite Redwings Mora has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1967 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts from Mora and Orsa, initially known as Mora-Orsa MCK. The name Red Wings was adopted a year later. In 1969-70, the club had the opportunity to build a clubhouse at Lomsmyren, about three kilometers outside Mora. The clubhouse, which measures approximately 55 square meters, was a former scout cabin that was transported in its entirety from the center of Mora to its current location. The club organized its first Siljansträffen event in 1971, which has become a classic and is still held on the first weekend of June every year.

In 1974-75, the Red Wings joined SMC (Sveriges Motorcyklisters Centralorganisation), the Swedish motorcycle organization. Towards the end of 1976, the club received a timber frame of 7x10 meters from the municipality, which the members dismantled and transported to Lomsmyren. In 1978, a motorcycle club was formed in Orsa, which attracted some of the Red Wings' members and resulted in the removal of the place name from the club's name. In the second half of the 1980s, running water was finally installed in the clubhouse. This was a significant and costly investment, which was successfully managed with the help of grants from the municipality and the sale of trees felled during a storm around the clubhouse, with the permission of the landowner (the municipality). After a period of stagnation, the club opened a campsite in 1999 for passing motorcyclists. It quickly became a success, leading to increased use of the clubhouse as members discovered it was open every night during the summer. In the new millennium, the upper floor of the clubhouse was completed with 10 beds, providing indoor accommodation for camping guests. In recent years the addition of a couple of beautiful camping cabins has further improved the facilities at the campsite.
