Peaceful, quiet, relaxing and nature-filled breaks are the name of the game at Queensberry Bay Holiday Park, a fab holiday park on the shores of Scotland's Solway Firth. If pubs, clubs and loud entertainment are very much not your thing, you'll find all you need here at this top-end and popular park instead, including an excellent little campers' kitchen with first-class views across the bay. The park also has excellently maintained showers and toilets, and a small licensed shop selling essentials like chocolate and the (also very well-regarded) Queensberry bacon rolls.

The Queensberry team is keen to point out that those looking for golden sands might be better off heading further west along the coast; the beach here, however, is a beaut nature reserve filled with grassy knolls and pools, and a breeding ground of the protected natterjack toad. It's just the spot for Spot and other dogs too as it's a perfect place for walking the pooch.
