About this campground
This cottage offers luxury accommodations for both guests and their dogs in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. You're on a ranch with miles of walking trails, and horseback riding available through our partner Southern Trails. Pick up fresh eggs from the chicken coop in the morning and make a country breakfast in your kitchen. Romantic, relaxing, and convenient to the best Hill Country towns for exploring. Also convenient to the wine trail that runs along Hwy 290 between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. Gary and Sherry spend most of their time here, where they manage the land, wildlife, and 4 guest cottages.

Gary is a retired Navy Commander who chose a second career at Brinks Home Security before finally "retiring" once and for all to the Texas Hill Country. Sherry founded The Newsletter Company in Dallas in 1981 and is easing her way into retirement. Why We Chose This Property: Growing up in Houston, Sherry vacationed in the Hill Country, enjoying the cool springs in summer and festivals like Wurstfest in the fall. During four years at UT, she explored the Hill Country towns from Wimberley to Luckenbach and all points in between. One of the most scenic views in all of the Hill Country is a stretch of FM 32 nicknamed "The Devil's Backbone" because of its winding curves and spectacular views. Gary & Sherry were frequent visitors to the area, and always dreamed of retiring in the Hill Country. When a ranch came up for sale in this choice spot, we bought the property and began building! What makes our cottages different? The cottages are architecturally unique, a mixture of old and new with a focus on beautiful architectural pieces from the past. Sherry's passion is restoring historic structures, including a 100-year-old office building in Downtown Dallas and a home in the State-Thomas Historic district that dated back to the 1880s. You'll pass by an old blue Victorian house at the entrance on FM 32, which we moved from Austin in 2016 and have leased for to a couple who sells antiques. If you know of anyone who wants to launch a restaurant, send them our way!
