About this campground

We have a small licensed caravan and camping holiday park in the village of Penpont in rural Nith Valley in the Dumfries & Galloway region of Scotland, fourteen miles north of Dumfries and two miles west of Thornhill Village on the A702. We are on the left just before Penpont Village.Here at Penpont we can accommodate touring caravans, motor homes and tents with electric hook-ups available.

A golf course is in essence a piece of landscape with wide sweeping fairways to wander down, it is the frustration of trying to hit a small ball around it and into a series of holes that can be a cause for frustration and great joy.FishingDumfries & Galloway offers a range of excellent game angling at reasonable costs. The areas rivers drain into the Solway Firth and provides quality sport for anglers of all abilities.The River Nith is arguably the most fruitful of the Solway rivers. It offers excellent sport for anglers of all abilities and experience.When you have experienced what the local rivers have to offer, we think that like the salmon, you will have an inescapable urge to return to the rivers over and over again.WalkingYou'll have a hard choice to make when looking for walks in Dumfries and Galloway with the assortment of choice available. Miles of craggy coastline and shores, boundless deep forests, moors, hills and mountain paths to suit all capability.The highest of the peaks White Coomb, 2,696 feet. The Moffat Hills is in all probability one of the most prominent walking areas in Dumfries and Galloway. With the popular town of Moffat nestled among some of the most impressive hills in southern Scotland. Hartfell, which is the next highet peak in the area. National Cycle Route 7 covers 114 miles in Dumfries and Galloway, passing through Gretna Green, Annan, Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet, Newton Stewart.National Cycle Route 74 runs for 44 miles and connects Route 7 to South Lanarkshire.The National Byway is a signed network on rural lanes and roads. The Byway runs for 194 miles in Dumfries and Galloway, taking in attractive countryside, heritage sites and places of interest. This also passes through Langholm, Lockerbie, Ecclefechan, Annan, Dumfries, Moniaive, St John's Town of Dalry, Clatteringshaws and Newton Stewart, before following National Cycle Route 7.There are also four signposted routes in the Machars peninsula in Galloway, its low-level landscape is ideal for cycling.
