About this campground

Newgale Camping Site is one of the best known and best loved camp sites in Pembrokeshire. Many visitors come back year after year. Some campers first came here as children and have returned every year since - until now, a generation later, they bring their own children. We do our best to run a family and surfer-friendly camp site, a hive of activity in the day but quiet at night. We have many young children on site during school holidays.

In term time, we tend to be much quieter from Monday to Friday - an ideal time for retired people in motor homes to visit. Please note:No caravans are permitted but motor homes are very welcomeNo dogs are allowed on the siteGas or charcoal barbeques are welcome but no fires can be lit on siteChinese lanterns may not be lit or launched on siteTents & motor homes must be at least 6 meters from your neighbour (local council regulations)If your family or group has more then one tent, they must be at least 3 meters apartThe vehicle speed limit on site is 5mphNo young groups are allowed unless by prior arrangementMost of the site is flat, but if you camp on the hill section please park your car across rather than facing down hill We do not take bookings but you can telephone us on 01437 710253 to check whether we have space. Normally we only get full at weekends in fine weather - and on August bank holiday weekend whatever the weather! Why do so many families return to Newgale Campsite Year after Year? Its not so much the Campsite - although we think the facilities are pretty good. No, it's simply that Newgale is the sort of place you fall in love with.To some people it's just a fantastic place to relax, to get away from it all. To others it's an adventure playground of sand and sea. To many families it's an inexpensive place to take the children on holiday - and the children certainly seem to have a great time. From the Campsite, you just cross the road then the pebble bank, and there it is - a mile long beach for building sandcastles, playing games, flying kites or just lying there. The sea is popular for surfing, canoes or swimming, and there's often a lifeguard on duty in August. There is a coastal bus service, but you're best off with a car so you can pick up supplies in the local shop, a mile and a half away, or visit other places of interest. If you like walking, you can take the Coastal Path north to Solva or south to Nolton Haven. The round trip to either village can be done easily in a day, including a break for lunch when you get there. In fact there are plenty of good eating-places within a few miles of Newgale. As you look out to sea from Newgale, you can see various islands including the nature reserves Skomer and Ramsey. Many different boat trips are available from different villages, including to Skomer from Martin's Haven or to Ramsey from St Davids.Who knows? Maybe Newgale is a place you'll revisit many times.
