About this campground
Nestled at 5,700 feet elevation, Aguirre Spring Recreation Area and Campground offers a spectacular mountain camping experience at the base of the Organ Mountains' dramatic cliffs and needle-like spires. The high wall formations curve around a semicircle of Chihuahuan Desert habitat featuring alligator juniper, gray oak, mountain mahogany, and sotol. The campground overlooks the Tularosa Basin and White Sands National Park, providing cooler temperatures than the surrounding desert lowlands. The facility includes 55 individual campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis, each equipped with a shade shelter, picnic table, grill, and tent pad.

Water is only available at the entrance near the Camp Host Site. Two group picnic shelters are available for day-use reservations. The 5.5-mile access road becomes narrow and winding as it climbs steeply, with a recommended maximum RV length of 23 feet. Hikers can access the 6-mile Baylor Pass Trail traversing the Organ Mountains and the 4-mile Pine Tree Trail loop.
