About this campground
Berry Creek Dispersed Campground is a primitive camping area managed by the Ely Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, located in the Duck Creek Basin high in the Schell Creek Range. Situated approximately 30 miles northeast of Ely, Nevada, this free campground offers a remote mountain experience at an elevation where diverse recreation opportunities abound throughout the seasons. The campground provides basic amenities including picnic tables and campfire rings at dispersed sites, along with vault toilets. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on leash within the campground.

The area is adjacent to the High Schells Wilderness, where wildlife including elk and deer are commonly spotted. Recreation opportunities include river and stream fishing in Berry Creek, mountain biking on forest roads, day hiking and backpacking into the surrounding wilderness, and horseback riding on designated trails. During winter months when the road is passable, the area offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities. The campground is typically accessible from late May through mid-October, depending on weather conditions and snow levels.
