About this campground
Mount Tom State Reservation encompasses the Mount Tom Range in the Connecticut River Valley region of Western Massachusetts, just north of Springfield. This 2,082-acre facility features 22 miles of hiking and walking trails for all experience levels, many of which are accessible for cross-country skiing in winter. The park is noted for its high cliffs, rugged scenery, and unparalleled views of the Connecticut Valley north and south, the Berkshire mountains to the west, and the Pelham hills to the east.

The reservation offers diverse recreational opportunities including picnicking at several sites, a children's play area, fishing and canoeing on Lake Bray, and winter activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating. The area is recognized for its biological diversity and is particularly renowned for bird watching, especially for hawks. The 110-mile Metacomet-Monadnock Trail passes through the reservation. Historical features include the ruins of the Eyrie House, a summit hotel built in 1861 that burned in 1901.
