About this campground

Manso Coguleras is a rugged natural area with views towards the Pyrenees. The mountains change their appearance with the play of sun, shadow, and clouds. The untouched nature invites respectful interaction. A journey through the site's own stream is not only adventurous but also reveals beautiful aspects of nature. This unique holiday area has a history of about 38 years. In 1978, Hans and Marijke Visser permanently settled in Manso Coguleras, a rugged natural area of about 250 hectares of mountains, streams, forests, and views.

It is located in the municipality of San Jaime de Llierca in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees, or rather Sant Jaume de Llierca, as the residents of Catalonia call this small village located before the medieval village of Castellfollit de La Roca built on the rock. The old farmhouse and its outbuildings were abandoned long ago. Since the Dutch settlers arrived, a road has been built, making it possible to drive to just below the top of the highest mountain and enjoy the fantastic views. On a clear day, you can see almost as far as Besalú, a medieval village that has hardly changed since 800. A beautiful Romanesque bridge over the Fluvia River connects this town with the eastern bank of the river, one of whose many streams originates at Manso Coguleras. The city of Gerona, with its old town and beautiful cathedral, is about 40 km away. The city of Figueras, home to the Salvador Dalí museum, is also 40 km away. Manso Coguleras has seen a lot of development. The swimming pond has been turned into a swimming pool. The former fully equipped bungalow tents have been replaced by cabins, wooden log cabins, and camping sites. In 2002, the usual access road that went straight through the river was changed to a crossing via the bridge.
