About this campground

Ling’s Meadow is a small, friendly campsite based on our family farm in rural Suffolk. The farm is home me (Kath), my husband, Neel, and our three young children.A Stardome, Bell Tents, Shepherd's Hut, Living van and six camping pitches are set within a peaceful four acre natural meadow that is also visited by a barn owl, hares, deer and buzzards on a regular basis. Our small site is perfect for campers who enjoy the peace and quiet of the open countryside and a spot of campfire stargazing.

It is also ideal for groups of family or friends wanting to spend a relaxing break away from it all.The handcrafted glamping is furnished with all of the comforts that you need for your stay as well as fire pits and kit for outdoor cooking. Linen and towels are provided for seven night stays or can be hired on site. The Stardome, Shepherd's hut and Living van have their own wood burning stoves for extra warmth at night. Each tent pitch is set within its own cut grass area of the meadow and has enough space for a large family tent. The campsite is very much ‘off grid’ and has been lovingly developed with sustainability in mind. Two luxury composting toilets and a separate solar and wood heated shower are housed in purpose built wooden pods. Washing up facilities and a drinking water tap are also provided. Grey water from the sinks and shower is recycled, so it can be used on the farm garden, using a natural marginal plant system and waste recycling facilities are available in the camp kitchen.Being enthusiastic outdoor types we have also thought long and hard about facilities for cyclists and walkers travelling under their own steam. National Cycle Network Route 13 and Regional Route 30 run just a mile to the north of the campsite and the start of The Peddars Way walk is only 3 miles down the road.Campers have access to a secure cycle shed with tool kit and local route information, bike and kit (for a small fee) washing facilities and cycles to borrow. To make it easier to travel light we also provide shared cooking and dining equipment and a BBQ in the communal camp kitchen. There is also the option of a pre-pitched tent for exhausted travellers ready to collapse by the campfire!Campers looking for that added touch of luxury can order BBQ and breakfast parcels delivered to their tent door.Come and meet our alpacas, sheep and chickens during your stay. We offer alpaca walks along the green lane next to our farm.Ling's Meadow is within walking distance of a popular farm shop and two local pubs serving good food. The campsite is very centrally placed and is convenient for exploring Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Norwich. It is also only an hour's drive from the beautiful Suffolk and Norfolk coastlines, and 90 minutes by train or car from London.PitchesFully furnished glamping up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 childrenPre-pitched tent up to 4 adults or two adults and four childrenTent pitch up to 4 adults or two adults and four childrenOverall the campsite can accommodate 25 people in the glamping accommodation and up to 6 tentsPricesBell tents from £175 for a two night stayStardome and shepherd's hut/living van from £200 for a two night stayDiscounts for longer staysPre-pitched tent £17 per night plus per person per night camping feeTent pitch £9/£11 per night per adult£4.50/£5.50 per night per child (under 3s are free)Linen and towels (free for 7 nt stay) £5 per person per stayCyclists/walkers kit wash £5 per loadProvision parcels from £18Meet the alpacas - £5 per person (suitable for all ages)Walk with alpacas - £20 per alpaca (includes one person leading and up to two accompanying adults/children over 8)All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate.DirectionsBy bus/trainOur nearest railway stations are Thetford, Diss and Stowmarket. Bury St Edmunds is only slightly further away. All have taxi ranks but you could also get a bus. Stowmarket and Diss stations have regular, direct services to and from London Liverpool Street. Thetford has regular services to and from King's Cross and to the north via Peterborough. There are reasonably regular bus services from Diss and Bury St Edmunds to Hepworth but times can change so it always worth checking. Both journeys take about half an hour and have buses that arrive in Hepworth between 2 and 3pm. By bicycleNational Cycle Network Route 13 and Regional Route 30 are just to the north of Ling's Meadow. From Route 13 you can take Coney Weston Road from Coney Weston to Barningham where you can join the B111 towards Stanton. From Route 30 turn off onto the B111 at Hopton and follow towards Barningham. Following the B111 from Barningham towards Stanton, turn first left onto North Common (signed by-road). Ling's Meadow is second on the left. If you get to Hillcrest Nursery you have gone to far! By carFor local traffic we are just off the B111 between Barningham and Stanton. From further afield you can reach the B111 via the A14 and then the A143. The A14 links up with the A11 and M11 from the west, the A1 from the north and the A12 from the south east.We are only two hours from north London (one and a half on a clear run). Take the M11 and then A11 to the A14 and follow for Bury St Edmunds. Come off at Bury St Edmunds Central and follow the A143 towards Felixstowe. From south or east London it is probably quicker to take the A12 to Ipswich and then join the A14 to Bury St Edmunds. In both cases follow the A143 from the Bury St Edmunds Central exit to the B111 turn off at Stanton.
