Combined groups cannot normally be accommodated, very sorry.Tent Sizes & PitchesWe provide space for four lightweight 1, 2 or 3 person tents and a reserve pitch for anyone who arrives ‘off the road’ either cycling or on foot. If in error you arrive with a tent larger than 3 man you may find we cannot accommodate you.Deposits & RefundsWe don’t ask for camping deposits, simply that should your plans change you let us know straight away so others may book.If you have to leave early, with regret we are unable to offer a refund. This is because we are very small and others will have been turned away to ensure you could have the nights you asked for.Considerate CampingThe Lazy Duck is a peaceful place. Please be mindful of this when you are enjoying the swings and hammock and around the chimenea fires.For everybody’s benefit we ask for a respectful quiet period please between 11pm and 8am.Be assured, Lazy Duck is a non-smoking environment.Visitors & DogsWe can sometimes welcome extra visitors not registered with us. Please ask us first in case extra numbers would pose problems for resident guests.Unfortunately, with sheep, hens and wandering waterfowl we are unable to welcome even the most obedient of dogs to the camping ground.Safety & DucksWe ask that lit chimeneas and cooking stoves are never left unattended.Please don’t approach the pond or wander amongst the ducks, but do watch them from the Welcoming Seat overlooking the water. We are always happy when children ask to help at morning duck feeding time.Please take full responsibility for your own children anywhere in the grounds. Thank you.Green PracticesYou will find recycling arrangements clearly marked for all separated waste materials. If in any doubt please ask us.We ask that protective slates are used beneath all cooking stoves and hot pots to avoid any burn marks on the grass.If you bring a portable BBQ please show it to us before lighting and if necessary we can give you everything needed to save you accidentally burning the grass underneath.Vehicles may not be taken on to the camping ground at any time during your stay. The distance to walk from the car park is very short.For stays of more than 3 nights we ask that you re-pitch so that the ground will remain green and fresh.On ArrivalBefore pitching your tent please find us by ringing the ship’s bell at the main house. If we are not there you will find welcoming information inside the open door.Arriving LateIf you are going to arrive later than expected, please ring 01479 821642. Otherwise, we may have to let your pitch go to another camper.On DepartureWe ask that you please vacate your pitch by 10.30am on the day of departure to allow time for camping ground maintenance.Woodman's Eco-HutLook south to the Cairngorms and at night time hear the silence. This exquisite hideaway for 2 offers a wildland experience blended with quirky luxury.You will find candle lanterns supported by gentle battery lighting. Feed the crackling stove with dry logs from the basket and discover how the pace of life can be slowed to the time it takes to boil a kettle.Who’s it forThis hut has been specially designed and set up for couples only. Occupancy of the hut, cottage, hostel and camping ground are quite separate from each other so combined groups cannot normally be accepted.Kit listYou should bring in all your own food although you can ask us for home baked bread, fresh laid eggs as available and poly-tunnel salads and veg in the summer.We suggest you bring easy-to-carry baggage, not wheelie cases, for the short woodland path leading up to the hut.Even in mid-summer it’s best to bring a good head-torch, even if you discover you don’t need it. Mostly you will find it useful for the forest path at night and perhaps for evening reading.What’s includedWe provide all linen, towels, and domestic essentials including candles and fire-lighting materials, logs for the wood-burning stove and peat for the outside fire-pot.Fresh drinking water is provided in water carriers which can be refilled from our mains supply.You are welcome to shared use of a small fridge/freezer that you can access at any time, 2 mins walk.We can offer you a phone charging point and an open access internet facility, both 2 mins walk. O2 and Orange mobile networks are fairly good here, others might be less so.Use of the sauna under the poppy-red roof is bookable and costs £4 per person per 40min session, also 2 mins walk. This is great followed by an open-sky shower up at the hut under the stars…DogsRegrettably visiting dog/s are not possible in the hut on account of the sensitive wildlife in the vicinity. However we can personally recommend a small local kennels offering first class accommodation and individual care at a very reasonable price to enable your pet to get the benefit of the great walks here.DirectionsLazy Duck entrance is on the Nethy Bridge to Tomintoul road, in the forest at the edge of the village.Find us beside the Fhuarain burn & waterfowl ponds in a forest clearing homestead, looking south to the ‘northern corries’ of the Cairngorms in the heart of the National Park.
