About this campground
Dedicated in 1920 as Iowa's second state park, Lacey-Keosauqua State Park encompasses 1,653 acres of oak-hickory bluffs and valleys positioned along a dramatic bend in the Des Moines River. The park's beautiful, shaded campground features 75 sites including electric, water/electric, full hookup, and non-electric options, along with modern restrooms, showers, and a dump station. The campground also offers six family cabins equipped with modern amenities including cook-top stoves, microwaves, and refrigerators. The park boasts 13 miles of trails winding through valleys and along river bluffs, providing excellent bird watching opportunities, particularly during spring migration.

A three-mile trail segment follows the Des Moines River bluff and touches on significant history, from the Mormon western trek river crossing to CCC-built structures from the 1930s. Native American burial mounds from the Woodland Culture overlook the river in the northwest section. Recreation centers around the picturesque 30-acre lake with a sandy swimming beach, bathhouse, and boating limited to electric motors. Fishing is popular both at the lake and along the scenic Des Moines River. The nearby town of Keosauqua offers additional amenities, and the park participates in the region's annual Scenic Drive Festival each October. Two open picnic shelters and day-use lodges are available for group gatherings.
