About this campground
Venture out to our most northerly siteStay at Inverewe Gardens in June and you’ll be so far north that there are extra hours of daylight, which will give you more time to enjoy the natural beauty of the area – otters and seals swim in Loch Ewe, the hills of Wester Ross rise up behind it, andthe sunsets have to be seen to be believed.There are a number of good walks from site such as around Loch Kernsary and LochMaree or along the river Ewe.

Osgood Mackenzie’s Inverewe Gardens is only a short walk away too, and is hometo a variety of sub-tropical plants courtesy of the warm currents of the North Atlantic Drift.Poolewe village is a two-minute walk from site, while nearby Gairloch has a Heritage Museum showing life from prehistoric times to the present day. In addition, the MarineLife Centre offers daily cruises to survey dolphins, whales and seals.For a unique souvenir you can also create your own scent at Scotland’s only workingperfume studio at Mellon Charles.Railway station: Achnasheen 36 miles.Bus stop: Bus stops outside site on request on routes to Inverness and Ullapool (limited service).Worth noting:Recommended approach to site is from Gairloch side – steep hill from Ullapooldirection. Backpackers have an undercover eating and cooking area. Mobile butcher/grocery van visits 2 days per week (meat from Gairloch butcher).Mosts shops and fuel stations close on Sunday. No banks in Poolewe but Post Office has cashpoint.Eat Local: Market at village hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wisemans is a good bakery in Aultbea and The Old Inn in Gairloch serves great food.
