About this campground
Huckleberry Hill Hiker-Biker Campsite is a primitive camping area located at mile 62.0 along the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath. Part of a network of hiker-biker campsites spaced approximately every 5 to 7 miles along the canal, this remote site is accessible only to those traveling by foot, bicycle, or horseback. The campsite provides basic amenities including a chemical toilet, picnic table, and grill. Non-potable water is available from mid-April to mid-November, but it must be filtered, chemically treated, or boiled before use. Water is shut off from mid-November to mid-April each year.

No fee or reservation is required, and the site operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a one-night stay limit. Campers should be prepared for a primitive experience, bringing all necessary supplies including drinking water during the winter months. Fires are restricted to provided grills and fire rings, or portable grills positioned off the ground. All coals must be extinguished and removed from the park. The C&O Canal towpath offers a flat, scenic route through Maryland's historic canal corridor, making this an ideal stop for long-distance cyclists and hikers exploring the 184.5-mile trail.
