Nature reserves and long sandy beaches EuroParcs De Koog is centrally located on the beautiful Wadden Sea island of Texel and close to the famous sandy beaches. You can reach the island with the TESO ferry from Den Helder. Texel has 40 nature reserves, of which the Slufter is the best known.

The area has an open connection to the North Sea and is largely a bird breeding and resting area. Another bird area is the Waalenburg polder. Texel is a walking and cycling island par excellence. Not only have walking and cycling paths been created all over the island, but also mountain bike routes. Explore the polders and dunes, the vast heathlands and forests. Boats depart from Oudeschild for a trip on the Wadden Sea. Sail along to spot seals, board a shrimp cutter or take a trip aboard a real sailing ship. Maritime past and cosy villages On the other hand, Texel is also brimming with cosiness and museums. Meet the seals in Ecomare, delve into the past in the Oudheidkamer Texel or sail to Kaap Skil and discover treasures from old shipwrecks. Climb the lighthouse in De Cocksdorp and look out over the sea on three sides. De Koog is a cosy village with numerous shops and eateries, as is the centre of Den Burg. Texel is also known for its regional products, such as sheep meat, Texel wool, which is used to make quilts, and Texel beer specialities.
