About this campground
Overview High Shipley is a family run working hill farm site overlooking beautiful countryside views . Depending on the time of year, there are varying interests and visitors can see cattle, sheep ,chickens, Gypsy the horse and 2 extremely friendly cats. Lambing time in April is always a favourite It is ideal for walkers and birdwatchers with a host of different species of birds including little owls, barn owls and woodpeckers. A hideaway site bordered by Wear and Teesdalel but central for many wonderful attractions.

A few amongst many are Hamsterley Forest with walks and bike trails, High force waterfall, Shildon locomotive ,Beamish outdoor museum, Bowes museum, Raby castle, The Auckland Project which includes the castle, viewing tower, mining museum, Spanish Gallery , AucklandCastle with deer park and Durham city with its wonderful cathedral. This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents*, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example. *Tents are not permitted on some CS sites in Scotland. 0.75 acre, level/slightly uneven.
