About this campground
Pine Loop is one of six campground loops at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area, a 1,200-acre recreational complex located on the shores of Monroe Lake in Hoosier National Forest. The campground sits in a well-shaded hardwood forest, offering visitors the feel of being in the deep woods while still providing modern amenities. The loop features a mix of standard electric sites, RV electric sites, and non-electric sites, as well as walk-to tent sites for a more primitive experience. The recreation area offers centralized water, flush toilets, and hot showers. Each campsite includes a table and fire pit.

The 2-mile Hardin Ridge Trail provides a safe surface for families to hike or bike between the day-use area and campground loops. Additional recreation opportunities include a 300-foot swimming beach on Lake Monroe, a three-lane boat launch, the 1.2-mile Ted T. Turtle interpretive trail, and fishing for bluegill, striped bass, largemouth bass, and crappie along the lake's shoreline. Monroe Lake spans 10,750 acres and is the largest lake in Indiana. The forest comes alive with dogwoods and redbuds in spring, while fall brings vibrant foliage in yellows, oranges, and reds. Two picnic areas with shelter houses overlook the lake, and a scenic overlook on Hardin Ridge Road provides stunning views of the lake and surrounding forest. Generators are not permitted in Pine Loop to maintain a quieter camping experience.
