The perfect place to relax and explore Golden Bay. Welcome to Farewell Gardens at Port Puponga, the perfect place to relax and explore Golden Bay and the magnificent west coast beaches, including famous Wharariki Beach. Farewell Gardens is a small and tranquil holiday camp, situated right beside the sea at the base of Farewell Spit, the longest sand spit in New Zealand. Puponga beach is a safe beach for swimming or kayaking, and at low tide you can walk close to the resident seal colony at Abel Head. We offer a variety of options, from tent and campervan sites, caravan and cabin through to a fully self-contained apartment. The camp boasts well established gardens with large sites for a relaxing stay, with many mature native and exotic trees providing shelter and privacy, and abundance of native birds.
