About this campground
This is said to be one of the sunniest areas in the whole of France – and while the weather can't be guaranteed, there should be plenty of good times in the forecast for those staying at Camping de la Grange au Maire. This small family-run campsite is in the southern Deux-Sèvres, in the centre of the four departments that make up the Poitou-Charentes, and there's lots for all the family to do and see. The site is in sleepy countryside but just a handy 10 minutes’ drive from the N10 motorway, making it a handy stopover point on journeys to or from the south of France or into Spain.

It's also close to the three main airports of Poitiers, Limoges and La Rochelle, which are all within a 90-minute drive. What to expect on site? Spacious grass pitches have parking by your accommodation and access to refurbished showers with a shaver point and hair drier, a washing-up area and a chemical toilet disposal point. Also useful are the 16-amp electric hook-ups for all the pitches. Pitches are within fully enclosed grounds behind large gates and hedges, ensuring that your stay will be a peaceful, secure and secluded one for everybody, especially the children. A communal room has a selection of books and a large selection of DVDs to borrow on any days when the weather’s not cooperating. There is also a dartboard, table tennis (please ask the team for this one) and a games table with table football, skittles and air hockey. Please note, if you're arriving late on Saturdays or after midday on Sunday, there are no shops open in the area, so make sure you stock up before you arrive. The local supermarket is in Sauzé-Vaussais (five minutes’ drive).
