About this campground
Looking to really, really get back to nature? Well, this may be the spot for you. Chalk Meadow is a secluded grass paddock site on the outskirts of the sleepy Dorset village of Broadmayne. Facilities are minimal (just loos and hot showers) and there’s no electricity, but that’s part of its rural charm. Couples, families and well-behaved dogs – all are welcome here, for relaxing country breaks mooching across the fields. And if you want to get out exploring, there’s plenty to do for everybody.

You can walk to Osmington White Horse in 45 minutes, and if you’re looking forward to splashing around in the sea with the kids, you’ve got the choice of Chesil (25 minutes), Preston and Ringstead (both 15 minutes) beaches. Get set to spark up the barbecue on site (just remember to bring your own) as it’s an easy 10-minute walk to Broadmayne to stock up on supplies in the convenience stores. Don’t want to cook? No worries – there’s a pub in the village too. For bigger shopping trips, the lively market town of Dorchester (10 minutes' drive) is your best bet, and you’ll probably want to stay a while to poke around its markets, museums and Thomas Hardy's Cottage (15 minutes).
