About this campground

There’s more to Brittany than its (admittedly spectacular) rugged coastline. Those who wander inland can expect to find ancient forests, prehistoric sites and splendid castles… and all of those are within easy driving distance of Camping Les Grands Bosquets. This site with well-maintained grass pitches occupies a leafy setting on the banks of the Étang de Châteaugiron fishing pond, (which is code for ‘don't forget your angling gear’). Les Grands Bosquets is also on the outskirts of Châteaugiron (a 10-minute walk or a five-minute bike ride – bikes are available for hire at the site).

Officially recognised as a ‘Small Town of Character’, Châteaugiron is a sweet place with pastel-coloured half-timbered buildings and a medieval moated castle. In addition to several independent shops (bakeries, butchers’ and grocery stores), there are also a handful of restaurants, which is good news for those who don’t fancy firing up the barbecue at dinner. Your four-legged buddy is welcome here – just be sure they are up to date with their vaccinations and kept on a leash while on site. The shaded path skirting the fishing pond is a top spot for walkies, and if you follow it all the way to the northwestern tip of the lake, you reach a playground with slides and climbing structures. So, hopefully, that’s both dog and kids happy. And for the grown-ups? For those who are not into fishing, there are tennis courts next door, plus more hiking trails in La Glaume (five minutes’ drive).
