About this campground
Sulfide Del Rey Campground occupies a historic site in the Pinal Mountains where an old mining company once operated. Miners lived at this higher elevation to escape the extreme heat of the lower desert areas where they worked during the day. Today, the campground offers free dispersed camping among mature ponderosa pines at 6,000 feet elevation. The campground is accessible via unpaved forest roads approximately 9 miles southwest of Globe. The remote location provides opportunities to see diverse wildlife including Abert squirrels, elk, and various bird species. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit, though fires are only permitted when restrictions allow.

This is a primitive camping area with vault toilets but no potable water, trash service, or hookups. The campground is best suited for smaller trailers under 20 feet due to the narrow forest roads and limited maneuvering space. A 14-day stay limit applies, and quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
