About this campground
Aspen Leaf Cabin welcomes guests with its homey vibe and remote mountain setting on the north end of the Uncompahgre National Forest. Built in the 1930s for use by Forest Service employees, this historic cabin sits in a field with scattered aspen and mountain shrub vegetation at 9,000 feet elevation, offering crisp mountain air, mild days, and chilly nights. The cabin features one bedroom with three twin-size beds and a queen sofa sleeper, accommodating up to six guests. A bathroom includes a flush toilet and shower. The kitchen is equipped with a propane stove and refrigerator, plus basic cooking and eating utensils.

The cabin does not have electricity, so guests should bring propane lanterns and matches. Drinking water is supplied but can be limited at times, so bringing backup water is recommended. The North Uncompahgre boasts an extensive ATV trail system known as the Divide Forks ATV complex with over 50 miles of trails. Mountain bikers enjoy the popular Tabaguache Trail System, and the area is also frequented by hunters in fall. Black bears, mountain lions, marmots, and deer inhabit the area. Vehicles can easily access the cabin, though 4WD may be required in October depending on weather conditions.
