Canebrake Horse Camp Overflow serves as an auxiliary camping area for equestrians visiting Uwharrie National Forest's extensive trail system. This primitive overflow facility opens when the main Canebrake Horse Camp reaches capacity, providing additional space for horse trailers and camping in an open field setting. The campground offers a no-frills experience with horse tie outs available but no water, restrooms, or other amenities on site. Campers must be self-sufficient and bring all necessary supplies. Trash must be packed out or taken to the dumpsters at the main Canebrake Horse Camp nearby.

The overflow camp provides convenient access to over 40 miles of equestrian trails in the Badin Lake Recreation Area. The trail system features 25 named paths ranging from easy to difficult, winding through beautiful forests and along rivers and lakes. This location is ideal for experienced horse campers who prefer primitive camping and don't require full amenities.
