Buck Mountain

Buck Mountain Lookout is one of the few remaining CT-2 design fire lookout towers in the United States. Built in 1939, this 30-foot wooden tower features an R-3 modified L-4 14' x 14' live-in cab with catwalk, located on the Mogollon Rim Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest. The lookout has been restored by HistoriCorps and is now available as a unique overnight rental accommodation. This historic lookout provides a rare opportunity to stay in an authentic fire lookout tower while experiencing the backcountry of northern Arizona. The elevated cab offers panoramic views of the surrounding forest landscape. Guests should be prepared for primitive conditions and changeable mountain weather, including cold nights, thunderstorms, and potential snow from fall through spring. The lookout accommodates up to four people.
