About this campground
Cane Camp is a primitive horse camping area located in the Kisatchie Ranger District of Kisatchie National Forest. Set in an upland mixed forest with large oaks and pines, the campground provides a peaceful setting under the shade of mature pine trees with grassy carpet throughout. This designated equestrian camp is positioned near the Sandstone Multiple-Use Trail and serves as an ideal base camp for riders exploring the Caroline Dormon Trail system. The campground offers basic amenities including flush toilets, potable water from faucets, trash receptacles, and horse feeder tie poles. While primarily designed for horse camping, general tent and RV camping is permitted.

All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis only, with no advance reservations accepted. The surrounding area provides opportunities for horseback riding, hiking, and road cycling along the nearby Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash. The campground is located within the National Red Dirt Wildlife Management Area.
