About this campground

Douglas Lodge Cabins provide historic rental accommodations at Itasca State Park, Minnesota's oldest state park established in 1891. The cabin complex features a collection of one-, two-, and three-bedroom log and stick-built structures nestled in towering pines along the east arm of Lake Itasca. Most cabins were constructed in the 1930s and retain their rustic character while offering modern amenities. Each cabin includes a full bathroom with shower or tub, stone fireplace for ambiance, heating, and a screened porch perfect for enjoying the forest setting. The cabins provide lake views, two parking stalls, and outdoor amenities including picnic tables and fire rings with cooking grates.

While the cabins lack indoor cooking facilities and refrigerators, guests can prepare meals outdoors and enjoy the natural surroundings. Towels and linens are provided. The Historic East Cabin, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937, offers a premium option with a full kitchen, air conditioning, and a screened gazebo. Located near the main Douglas Lodge building, the cabins provide easy access to the park's trails, the Mississippi River headwaters, and Lake Itasca recreational opportunities. Reservations are required and can be made up to 120 days in advance.
