About this campground

Potholes State Park occupies 640 acres of desert terrain on the shores of Potholes Reservoir, also known as O'Sullivan Reservoir, in Grant County, Washington. The park provides 6,000 feet of freshwater shoreline access and serves as a premier destination for water sports, fishing, and camping. The reservoir was created in the 1950s with the construction of O'Sullivan Dam as part of a Bureau of Reclamation irrigation project, which raised the water table and filled natural geological depressions to create the surrounding pothole lakes. The campground offers 121 total sites: 60 full-hookup sites suitable for large RVs and 61 standard sites for tents and smaller camping units.

Maximum site length is 50 feet with limited availability for larger rigs. Full-service amenities include flush restrooms with showers, a dump station, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire pits at designated sites. During winter months, the primary water supply is located at the trailer dump station area, though campground restrooms and day-use restrooms remain open year-round. The park excels as a water recreation destination with a boat launch, dock, and fish cleaning stations available May through September. Potholes Reservoir supports year-round fishing and offers opportunities for waterskiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming during summer months. The surrounding freshwater marshes and proximity to Columbia National Wildlife Refuge make this an exceptional location for birding, with regular sightings of sandhill cranes, waterfowl, raptors, and shorebirds. Additional recreation includes volleyball, horseshoe pits, a playground, hiking trails, and biking trails. The park features WiFi, a camp store, and a park ranger station.
