This horse-friendly campground features a 6-stall horse tie area with manger, though campers must use certified weed-free hay and avoid pasturing horses in riparian areas. Water for horses is available from adjacent Billy Fields Creek. The campground offers basic amenities including wooden picnic tables, metal fire rings, and vault toilets, but no potable water is available, so campers must bring their own.

The site is particularly popular during fall and early winter months with big game hunters. Fields Peak Trail is located within 3 miles of the campground for those wanting to hike and explore. The area also provides opportunities for fishing and viewing wild horses. This dispersed-style campground operates seasonally and is accessible via paved Forest Service Road 21. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days per Malheur National Forest regulations. Campers should be prepared for variable mountain weather and pack out all trash.
