About this campground

Orchard Beach State Park Campground occupies a commanding position atop a 100-foot bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, three miles north of Manistee in Manistee County. The park is renowned for spectacular sunset views across the lake and its panoramic vistas. The modern campground features 166 generously sized sites shaded by oaks and maples, with 30- and 50-amp electrical service and full hookups including water and sewer at all sites. Six secluded walk-in tent sites are perched along the bluff edge, accessed via a short uphill walk from designated parking. The park offers over 3.5 miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails winding through old-growth forests and former farmland.

A scenic viewing platform positioned partway down the bluff provides expansive views of Lake Michigan and the shoreline. The centerpiece of the day-use area is the recently restored and relocated 850-ton historic CCC-era pavilion, which features two massive stone fireplaces, picnic tables, modern restrooms, and electrical service. While direct beach access is not available, campers can fish for coho and Chinook salmon in fall and steelhead in spring using nearby boat launches. The campground includes two toilet and shower buildings, vault toilets, a fish cleaning station, and a sanitation station with potable water. Additional amenities include a mini cabin and camper cabin, playground, EV fast-charging stations, and recycling facilities.
