Pittsburg Campground overlooks the Wild and Scenic Snake River in the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, providing year-round camping in one of North America's deepest river gorges. The facility offers 28 tent and trailer sites, many of which accommodate large RVs and trailers. Accessible features include paved roads, camp spurs, and designated accessible campsites and toilets. The campground serves as a base for exploring the Snake River corridor, with the Pittsburg Landing Boat Launch nearby for motorized and non-motorized boating.

Anglers fish the Snake River, while history enthusiasts visit the adjacent Pittsburg Rock Art Interpretive Site featuring Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. The area is popular throughout all seasons, though access requires navigating 17.5 miles on the steep, narrow, winding Deer Creek Road from Highway 95 near White Bird. Fire restrictions apply June 1 through September 30, permitting only charcoal fires in fire pans. Drinking water is available from April to October depending on weather conditions. During winter months, campers must bring their own water. The facility charges $15 per night year-round and operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations.
