About this campground

Helende Campground sits at 4,100 feet elevation along Highway 21, about 10 miles east of Lowman. The South Fork Payette River flows a few hundred yards from the campground, offering excellent whitewater rafting, kayaking, and trout fishing opportunities. The campground is situated in a dense forest of lodgepole and Ponderosa pine that provides plentiful shade, with summer wildflowers dotting the landscape and occasional sightings of deer and elk. Nearby attractions include Kirkham Hot Springs, located less than 5 miles west along Highway 21, where a trail with staircases leads down to riverside soaking pools.
