About this campground
Redwood Campground is located in Standish-Hickey State Recreation Area at the southern gateway to California's redwood belt. The campground features 63 standard campsites situated among second-growth coast redwoods along the South Fork Eel River. One site is ADA accessible. Access to the campground requires crossing a seasonal Bailey Bridge over the river, which is removed each fall when winter rains swell the Eel River and reinstalled when conditions permit. The campground sits in a scenic river canyon with well-shaded sites featuring raised wooden food boxes. Due to the steep, narrow access road with a 180-degree turn, maximum vehicle length is restricted to 18 feet.

The campground provides modern restrooms with showers, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. It serves as a trailhead for the Big Tree Trail, which leads to the 225-foot tall Captain Miles Standish Tree, and offers access to swimming holes along the Eel River during summer months.
