About this campground

Simax Group Campground is located on the northeast shore of Crescent Lake in Deschutes National Forest, offering some of the most beautiful scenery in central Oregon. Designed as a fully accessible campground, the facility features four group sites accommodating up to 40 people each, plus a large picnic pavilion for day use that can host up to 50 people. Its brilliant blue-green water, sandy beaches, and exceptional water temperature for a high-elevation lake make it ideal for water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, and swimming. Anglers can fish from boat or shoreline for kokanee salmon, mackinaw, rainbow trout, brown trout, and mountain whitefish, with summer months offering the best fishing. The Fawn Lake Trail begins at the northeast end of the lake, offering a 4.7-mile one-way hike through diverse forest landscapes with views of Redtop and Lakeview Mountains. The campground provides vault toilets, potable water from faucets, and each site includes picnic tables and fire pits. Maximum site spur length is 40 feet. Volcanic activity throughout the surrounding area is evident in the landscape, showcasing cinder cones, calderas, and lava flows. A nearby resort on Crescent Lake offers lodging, a general store, and equipment rentals.
