About this campground
Summit Creek Guard Station, constructed in 1912, is a historic Forest Service guard station listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located approximately 34 miles north of Steamboat Springs in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, this rental cabin represents the transition between early pre-design phase and pre-Civilian Conservation Corps phase Forest Service construction. The guard station sleeps up to 6 people in two bunk beds and one full bed. The facility includes electricity with electric lights, a propane heater and refrigerator, basic kitchen supplies including pots, pans and plates, a kitchen sink, table and chairs, and an outdoor picnic table and fire ring.
