About this campground

Pepperdine Campground sits in the scenic Warner Mountains of Modoc National Forest, offering a peaceful mountain camping experience. The family campsites are mostly shaded and provide a quiet setting for an enjoyable camping experience. The campground serves as the starting point for the Summit Trail, which heads south into the South Warner Wilderness, making it an ideal base for backpackers and day hikers. Formerly used as both a family camp and horse camp, the horse corrals have been relocated to the adjacent Pepperdine Equestrian Campground, while this campground now focuses on family camping. The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations.

Campers should be prepared to bring all their own water, as no potable water is available on-site. The campground is located at an elevation where snow typically closes access from late October through early July. During the operating season, visitors enjoy light usage levels and can explore the surrounding Warner Mountain Ranger District. A California Campfire Permit is required if planning to use camp stoves or have fires outside the developed campground area or in the wilderness.
