About this campground

Frenchy Point Campground is a remote, boat-access only camping area situated on the western shore of Bullards Bar Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest. This primitive overflow campground is located approximately 5 miles northwest of the Dark Day Boat Ramp and serves as additional camping capacity when other reservoir campgrounds reach capacity. The campground offers basic, undeveloped campsites with no facilities. There are no restrooms, tables, or fire pits provided. Campers must bring their own portable chemical toilets and are responsible for all waste removal. Potable water is not available; campers must bring their own water or be prepared to filter and treat water from the reservoir.

The setting provides a true backcountry experience on the water with opportunities for fishing, swimming, and exploring the reservoir's extensive shoreline. Access requires a boat launch from either Dark Day or Cottage Creek boat ramps. The reservoir supports year-round fishing for both warm and cold water species. Due to the boat-in nature and lack of facilities, this campground is best suited for self-sufficient campers seeking solitude and a primitive camping experience on the water.
