This 15-acre maintained camp serves as the primary trailhead for the 26.7-mile Long Cane Horse Trail, which winds through pines and hardwoods of the Long Cane Scenic Area and passes the largest shagbark hickory tree in the United States. The surrounding forest offers excellent hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, and quail. The Long Cane Horse Trail offers numerous access points and a convenient cut-through that allows riders to adjust the length and duration of their rides. The trail passes a historic cemetery and the original Charleston Road, adding historical interest to the natural beauty. A specialized permit is required for organized rides of 12 or more people and for overnight camping along the trail.
